Discover more about Tatnall Playground/One Love Park

One Love Park, formerly known as Tatnall Street Playground, holds a special place in Wilmington's Brandywine Village. Established in 1907, the park gained significance when it was renamed in 2014 to commemorate the time Bob Marley spent in the city. In 1966, a young Bob Marley resided across the street at 2311 Tatnall Street with his mother, Cedella Booker. During this period, he worked at local factories, including DuPont and Chrysler, to earn money to launch his record label in Jamaica. To honor this chapter of his life, the park was named after his iconic 1977 song, 'One Love/People Get Ready'. Today, One Love Park serves as a vibrant community space, featuring playground equipment, a basketball court, and green space for picnics and relaxation. A historical marker stands within the park, detailing its history and connection to Bob Marley. A mural celebrating Bob Marley and the neighborhood's Jamaican heritage can be found on West 24th Street, next to the park. The park is open from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM on most days, offering a welcoming environment for all.
