The Iron Hill Science Center, operated by the Delaware Academy of Science, is a captivating museum dedicated to the natural sciences. Located in Newark, Delaware, the center features a range of exhibits designed to engage visitors of all ages. The museum's exhibits cover diverse scientific fields, including entomology (insects), paleontology (fossils), geology (earth processes with a focus on rocks and minerals), zoology (taxidermy collection of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and fish), and botany (plants). Highlights include a fluorescent rock room, a touch wall, and displays dedicated to Delaware's prehistoric sea life. Visitors can explore local flora and fauna, as well as international rock and mineral specimens. In addition to its exhibits, the Iron Hill Science Center provides educational programs, workshops, and summer camps. The original location of the Delaware Academy of Science's collections, the Iron Hill Museum (School House #112C), is open to visitors upon request and every Wednesday from 12pm to 4pm. Built in 1923, the schoolhouse served African American students in the Iron Hill Village.
