Ferry and short walk
From Svendborg, take the passenger and car ferry to Ærøskøbing; the crossing usually takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and standard adult tickets are typically around 120–180 DKK one way, with extra charges for vehicles. Services run several times a day but may be less frequent outside summer. From the ferry terminal in Ærøskøbing it is an easy, mostly level walk of around 10–15 minutes through the town centre to the hotel, suitable for wheeled luggage.
Bus from other Ærø towns
If you are staying elsewhere on Ærø, use the island bus services that connect Marstal, Søby and smaller villages with Ærøskøbing. Depending on where you start, journeys usually take 15–40 minutes. In many periods the island buses operate either free of charge or at very low fares, but always check current conditions and seasonal timetables in advance, as frequency drops outside peak season and late-evening services can be limited.
Cycling across the island
Badehotel Harmonien is directly beside coastal cycle routes, making it a natural stop on a bike tour of Ærø. From Marstal or Søby, expect roughly 1–2 hours of cycling each way, depending on your pace and route. The terrain is gently rolling with some hills and open stretches exposed to wind, so pack layers and water. Bike rental on the island usually costs about 100–150 DKK per day for standard bicycles, with higher rates for e-bikes.
Car on island roads
Arriving with a car on the ferry, you can drive across Ærø’s narrow roads to Ærøskøbing in approximately 10–25 minutes from most other settlements. Traffic is generally light, but streets in the town centre are narrow and partly cobbled. Parking options are available close to the harbour and around the edge of the old town; some areas may have time limits or seasonal restrictions, so check local signs when you arrive.
