Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
From Østerbro’s leafy streets, follow the flow of locals heading toward the iconic lakes or toward the city’s historical center. The journey transitions into the inviting green spaces of King’s Garden, where Rosenborg Castle rises just ahead—a gentle 10–20 minute stroll, depending on your starting point. The castle’s turrets are a visible landmark once you enter the park. Plenty of benches and well-kept paths make the walk enjoyable throughout the year.
Public Transport
S-trains and metro lines from Østerbro stations connect quickly to central hubs like Nørreport Station. From there, the castle is within easy reach—simply move toward the King’s Garden. Transit tickets for a single adult journey in the inner Copenhagen zones typically cost 24 DKK. The area is well signposted, with the castle visible as you approach the greens.
Taxi
A short taxi ride from anywhere in Østerbro will deliver you to King’s Garden near the castle entrance, usually within 5–15 minutes depending on traffic. Expect fares around 90–140 DKK. Taxis can drop you near the main gates, but the immediate vicinity of the castle does not permit vehicle access—expect a brief walk from the garden entrance.
Driving
Limited metered parking is available along the park perimeter, averaging 24–28 DKK per hour. Parking spots tend to fill up quickly, especially in summer and on weekends. No tolls apply for entry, but the dense city setting means public or active transport is usually more convenient.
