A striking 10-foot sculpture made from reclaimed machine parts and scrap metal, ZinkGlobal depicts a contemplative figure sitting atop 'The Key to the Future.' Created by artist Kim Michael and installed in 2012 at Copenhagen's Nordre Toldbod waterfront, this unconventional artwork sparked debate among art critics but has become a beloved local landmark and meeting point. Set at the edge of Churchillparken by Copenhagen’s harbor, the Gefion Fountain is a monumental bronze and granite tableau of the Norse goddess Gefion driving four powerful oxen through cascades of water. Designed by sculptor Anders Bundgaard and inaugurated in 1908 as a gift from the Carlsberg Foundation, it dramatizes the legend of how the island of Zealand was plowed from Sweden. Surrounded by lawns, trees and views to Kastellet and St. Alban’s Church, it is both a mythic landmark and a peaceful urban pause.

Perched on a granite rock along Copenhagen’s Langelinie promenade, The Little Mermaid is a small bronze statue with outsized symbolic power. Sculpted by Edvard Eriksen and unveiled in 1913 as a gift from brewer Carl Jacobsen, she was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s 1837 fairy tale of love and sacrifice. Just 1.25m tall, this wistful mermaid gazing toward the harbor has become an enduring icon of Copenhagen and Danish storytelling, drawing visitors day and night to the waterfront.

St. Alban's Church, known locally as the English Church, is Copenhagen's only Anglican place of worship. Built between 1885 and 1887 by renowned architect Arthur Blomfield, this Gothic Revival gem sits in a peaceful park setting adjacent to the Kastellet citadel. The church's distinctive stonework—featuring limestone, knapped flint, and Åland stone—reflects traditional English ecclesiastical architecture. Its existence owes much to royal patronage: Princess Alexandra of Denmark, who married the Prince of Wales, championed the project and helped secure both funding and this picturesque location. Today it remains an active international Anglican community welcoming visitors and worshippers from around the world.

The memorial is part of Copenhagen's significant war remembrance sites and lies within the historic Citadel complex.

Today it serves as a quiet, contemplative reminder of maritime warfare and the city’s strategic role, tucked among lawns, trees and nearby historic fortifications.
