    From Portsmouth, take a public minibus heading towards Roseau. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Syndicate junction. From there, it's approximately a 4km (2.5 miles) walk uphill to the trailhead. Alternatively, you can try to hire a taxi from the junction, but availability may be limited. The minibus fare from Portsmouth to the Syndicate junction is approximately EC$3-5. Bus fares around the island generally range from EC$1.50 to EC$10.25 depending on the route.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available at the airports and in Roseau and can be arranged all over the island. A taxi from Portsmouth to the Syndicate Nature Trail will cost approximately EC$40-50. From Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) to Roseau is EC $200 per person. It's strongly recommended to confirm the fare before starting your trip. Taxi services in Dominica can be pricey, with costs ranging from €15-40 (XCD 43-115) depending on the destination.

    From Portsmouth, head south on the main road (towards Roseau). After approximately 15 minutes, look for the sign for Syndicate on your left. Turn onto this road and follow it for about 4km (2.5 miles) up into the rainforest. The road is narrow and winding, so drive carefully. Parking is available near the trailhead, but it can fill up quickly during peak season.

The Syndicate Nature Trail, located in the foothills of Morne Diablotin, Dominica's highest mountain, is a celebrated hiking path in Morne Diablotin National Park, adjacent to the Northern Forest Reserve. Constructed in 1993 with support from the RARE Centre for Tropical Conservation and Birdlife International, the trail provides visitors with a genuine rainforest experience and is a prime birding location. The trail was temporarily closed following the devastation of Hurricane Maria in September 2017 but was reopened in 2018 after considerable efforts to clear and restore access.
