    Local tips

Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy a more tranquil experience.
Wear sturdy walking shoes with good grip, as the trails can be slippery, especially after rain.
Bring Eastern Caribbean Dollars (XCD) for the entrance fee, as credit cards may not be accepted.
Consider hiring a local guide for a more informative and safe experience, especially if you plan to hike beyond the viewing platform.
Check the weather forecast before heading out, as heavy rains can make the trails muddy and potentially dangerous.

    Discover more about Trafalgar Falls

Trafalgar Falls, located a short drive east of Roseau, is one of Dominica's most iconic and accessible natural wonders. These majestic twin waterfalls, known locally as the 'Mother' and 'Father' falls, cascade side-by-side down volcanic cliffs into pristine pools, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The 'Father' fall, taller and more forceful, plunges approximately 125 feet, while the 'Mother' fall flows more gently, feeding a series of warm mineral pools at its base. The journey to the falls is a relatively easy 10-15 minute walk along a well-maintained 0.3 mile (0.5 km) trail that begins at the Trafalgar Visitor Facility. The path meanders through lush rainforest, surrounded by towering trees, tropical ferns, and the sounds of exotic birds. Interpretive signs provide insights into the area's geology, ecology, and native plant and wildlife. From the viewing platform, visitors can capture stunning photographs of both falls. More adventurous travelers can scramble over boulders to reach the base of the falls and take a dip in the refreshing pools or relax in the naturally heated mineral springs. The area is part of the Wotten Waven Caldera, a geothermal hotspot, adding a unique geological dimension to the site. However, caution is advised when climbing near the water, as the rocks can be slippery. While the hot springs along the track to the falls were covered during Hurricane Maria in 2017, the site remains a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
