Discover more about Scott's Head Cannon

Scott's Head Cannon, situated in the village of Scott's Head, is a historical site with breathtaking views and a rich history. The area, originally known as Cashacrou by the Kalinago people, was renamed after Captain George Scott, who oversaw the construction of Fort Cachacrou in the 18th century. Fort Cachacrou was strategically important, serving as a military lookout during the colonial era. The Scots Guards stationed here would fire cannons to warn of approaching enemy fleets from Martinique. Today, remnants of the fort, including a small cannon and parts of the stone wall, still stand, offering visitors a tangible connection to the past. From the summit, one can admire the stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and nearby coastal villages like Soufriere, Pointe Michel, and Roseau. On a clear day, you might even spot the island of Martinique in the distance. The peninsula itself is a remarkable geological formation, with a narrow isthmus separating the calm Caribbean Sea from the turbulent Atlantic Ocean. Scott's Head is also the starting point for Segment #1 of the Waitukubuli National Trail, inviting hikers to explore the scenic routes connecting the region's natural and historical sites. The area is part of the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve (SSMR), a protected area known for its vibrant marine life and excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities.
