Bus
To get to Playa Dorada by bus, start at the central bus terminal in Puerto Plata, known as the 'Parada de Autobuses'. Look for a bus labeled 'Playa Dorada' or 'Playa Dorada Beach'. Buses run frequently, and the fare is usually very affordable. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at the Playa Dorada stop, you will see signs directing you to the beach. Follow the pedestrian path straight to the beach entrance.
Motoconcho (Motorcycle Taxi)
If you prefer a quicker and more direct option, you can take a motoconcho. Simply find a motoconcho driver in the streets of Puerto Plata. Tell them you want to go to Playa Dorada; they will know exactly where it is. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the fare before getting on.
Walking
If you are staying nearby and wish to walk to Playa Dorada, head towards the main road, Avenida del General Gregorio Luperón. Walk west along this road until you reach the intersection with Calle Principal. Turn left onto Calle Principal and continue straight until you see the signs for Playa Dorada. The walk may take around 30-40 minutes depending on your pace, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
Bicycle Rental
For a more active option, consider renting a bicycle. There are several rental shops in Puerto Plata, especially near the central plaza. Rent a bike and head towards Avenida del General Gregorio Luperón. Cycle west on this road until you reach Calle Principal, then turn left. Continue straight until you arrive at Playa Dorada. The bike ride should take about 20-30 minutes, and it's a great way to enjoy the scenery.
