Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Quito, take the Pan-American Highway (E28) towards Santo Domingo. After about 2 hours, take the exit for Mindo (via the Baeza-Mindo road). Continue on this road for approximately 1 hour until you reach Mindo. Once in Mindo, look for signs directing you to the Mariposario (Butterfly House). El Monte Sustainable Lodge is located just past the butterfly house on the right side of the road. Make sure to have a GPS or map application to assist with navigation.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach El Monte from Quito using public transportation, head to the Quitumbe bus terminal. Take a bus to Mindo, which should take around 2 to 3 hours and cost approximately $3 to $5. Once you arrive in Mindo, you can take a taxi or walk to the lodge. The lodge is about 10-15 minutes from the bus station by taxi. If you choose to walk, follow the main road towards the Mariposario (Butterfly House); El Monte Sustainable Lodge is located just past it on the right.
