Getting there

Bus

From Ambato city center, head to the main bus terminal located at Avenida Cevallos. Look for buses heading towards Baños or Pelileo, as they frequently pass by the area close to Carrel Refuge. Ask the driver to drop you off at Chuquipogyo. The bus ride should take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Chuquipogyo, walk towards the northeast direction for about 15 minutes until you reach the Carrel Refuge, following the local signs or inquiring with locals for directions.

Taxi

From Ambato city center, you can catch a taxi from any of the designated taxi stands or hail one on the street. Inform the driver you want to go to Carrel Refuge in Chuquipogyo. The journey should take around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting the ride or confirm that the driver will use the meter.

Walking

If you are feeling adventurous and the weather is pleasant, you can walk from Ambato to Chuquipogyo. Start from the central park (Parque Montalvo) and head southwest along Avenida Cevallos, moving towards the outskirts of the city.
