Getting There

  • Car

    From Quito, take the Pan-American Highway (E28) south towards Cotopaxi National Park. Continue on E28 for about 50 km (approximately 1 hour). Look for signs to Cotopaxi National Park. As you enter the park, follow the signs towards the Mirador Cotopaxi. There is a small entrance fee for the park (around $5 per person) which you will need to pay at the entrance. Once you reach the parking area, the Mirador Cotopaxi is a short walk from there.

    To reach Mirador Cotopaxi using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Quito to Latacunga. Buses leave frequently from the Quitumbe terminal and the journey takes about 1.5 hours, costing approximately $2. Once in Latacunga, transfer to a bus heading to Cotopaxi National Park. This second leg will take about 1 hour and cost around $1. After arriving at the park entrance, you will need to pay the entrance fee (around $5 per person) and either walk or arrange a taxi to take you to Mirador Cotopaxi.
