Car
If you're driving, start from the town of Otavalo, which is about 24 kilometers away from Mojanda. Head east on the Pan-American Highway (E35) towards Cayambe for approximately 15 kilometers. Look for the sign directing you to Mojanda; you will take the exit towards the Mojanda road (a local road that may not be well-marked). Follow this road for about 9 kilometers. It will lead you directly to the Mojanda area, where you can park your vehicle near the lake.
Public Transportation
To reach Mojanda using public transportation, take a bus from Otavalo to the town of Mojanda. Buses leave frequently from the main bus terminal in Otavalo. The fare is usually around $1.50 and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Mojanda, you can either walk to the lake (a short 15-minute hike) or arrange for a local taxi to take you closer to the lake if you have heavy luggage.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Otavalo to Mojanda. This option is more expensive, with fares typically around $20-$25. The taxi will take you directly to your desired location, which is convenient if you are traveling in a group or have a lot of luggage.
