Car
If you're driving, start from the main town in Central Sierra, such as Quito. Head northwest on the E28 (Calacalí-La Independencia road). Continue on this road for about 1.5 hours until you reach Km 77. Look for signs indicating Mindo. San Tadeo Birding is located 15 minutes before the junction (Y) for Mindo. The entrance will be on your left. Make sure to have cash for any entrance fees or parking, which are typically around $5.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transport, take a bus from Quito to Mindo. Buses leave frequently from the Carcelén bus terminal. The journey will take approximately 2 hours. Once in Mindo, you can hire a taxi or use a shared taxi (called 'taxi colectivo') to reach San Tadeo Birding, which is about 15 minutes away. The taxi ride should cost around $5-10. Confirm the price before you start the journey.
