Bus
From the main bus terminal in Otavalo, take a bus heading to Cotacachi. The buses are frequent, departing every 15-30 minutes. After approximately 30 minutes, ask the bus driver or conductor to drop you off at the stop for Huasipungo. Once you arrive at Huasipungo, you will see a small sign indicating the direction to Pucará de Rumicucho. Walk along the dirt road for about 15-20 minutes, following the signs and local directions. The ruins should be visible on a hill to your left as you approach.

Taxi
You can hire a taxi from anywhere in Otavalo. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Pucará de Rumicucho. The trip will take approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The taxi will drop you off at the entrance of the archaeological site.

Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from the center of Otavalo to Pucará de Rumicucho. Start at Plaza de los Ponchos and head west on Calle Sucre until you reach Avenida 31 de Octubre. Turn right and continue until you reach the intersection with Avenida Simon Bolivar. Turn left and follow the avenue until you reach Huasipungo. This entire walk is about 7 kilometers and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Once you reach Huasipungo, look for signs to the ruins.
