Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, start from the main town in Morona Santiago Region, Macas. Head southwest on the E45 highway towards the town of Sucúa. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes (around 75 km), you will reach Sucúa. From Sucúa, continue on the E45 towards the town of Huamboya. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Chimborazo. Once you reach Huamboya, take the road leading north towards the Chimborazo area. Follow this road for about 30 minutes until you reach the Chimborazo entrance. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance as some roads may be unpaved and bumpy.

Public Transportation

To reach Chimborazo via public transportation, start in Macas and take a bus to Sucúa. Buses leave frequently from the main terminal in Macas, and the journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The ticket will cost approximately $2.50. After arriving in Sucúa, you will need to transfer to another bus that goes towards Huamboya. Check with local vendors for the best options as these buses may not run as frequently. The ride to Huamboya will take about 30 minutes, costing around $1. From Huamboya, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a local guide to take you to the Chimborazo entrance, which is about a 30-minute drive.
