If you're traveling by car from the town of Loja, head northwest on the E35 highway. Continue for approximately 77 kilometers until you reach the town of Catamayo. From Catamayo, take the road towards the town of Vilcabamba. After about 30 kilometers, turn onto the road that leads to the Sierra Negra area. Follow this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the Sierra Negra area. Be prepared for mountainous terrain and ensure your vehicle is in good condition.

From Loja, head to the main bus terminal and look for buses heading to Vilcabamba. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs approximately $1.50.
