    If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Tulcán, the capital of Carchi Province. Head south on the E35 highway towards the town of El Chical. Continue on this road for about 30 km until you reach the intersection with the E28 highway. Turn left onto E28 and drive for approximately 15 km. You will see signs directing you to Refugio Paz de Las Aves. The final stretch is a gravel road; drive carefully for about 5 km until you reach the entrance of the refuge. Parking is available on-site.
