Podocarpus National Park, established in 1982, spans 1,462 square kilometers (564 square miles) in southeastern Ecuador, within the provinces of Loja and Zamora Chinchipe. The park's elevation ranges dramatically from 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) to over 3,600 meters (11,800 feet), creating diverse habitats from cloud forests to paramo ecosystems.
