Getting There

• Car

  To reach Emba Soira by car, start from the town of Mendefera, which is the capital of the Debub region. Head southeast on the main road (A12) for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the junction to the Asmara-Mendefera road. Turn left and continue for another 15 kilometers, following the signs for Emba Soira. The road will lead you through scenic landscapes, but be cautious as some sections may be unpaved. Upon approaching the base of Emba Soira, parking is available near the trailhead.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from Mendefera to Asmara. These can be found at the central bus station in Mendefera. Once you reach Asmara, switch to a minibus heading towards Emba Soira. The minibus fare typically costs around 10-20 Nakfa. Ensure to inform the driver of your destination. The minibus will drop you off at the nearest stop to Emba Soira, from where you may need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to the trailhead.

• Hiking

  For those who enjoy hiking, after reaching the base of Emba Soira, follow the established trails to the summit. The hike is moderately challenging, taking about 2-3 hours to reach the peak, depending on your fitness level. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks, as there are no facilities on the mountain. It's advisable to start early in the morning to avoid the heat and enjoy the breathtaking views along the way.
