Getting There

• Walking

  Start at Kärdla town center, near the Kärdla bus station. Head southwest on Tallinna Street (Tallinna tänav) until you reach the intersection with Ranna Street (Ranna tänav). Turn left onto Ranna Street and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by various shops and local residences. Once you reach the end of Ranna Street, take a right onto the road leading to Kummistu, which is marked with a sign for Kummistu kalmistu. Follow this road for approximately 4 kilometers. As you walk, enjoy the scenic views of the countryside. The cemetery will be on your right-hand side, just before you reach Kerema village.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Kärdla. Start at the Kärdla town center and follow the same route as for walking: head southwest on Tallinna Street until you reach Ranna Street. Turn left onto Ranna Street and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. After turning right onto the road to Kummistu, you can enjoy a pleasant ride for approximately 4 kilometers. Biking is a great way to experience the beautiful landscape of Hiiumaa, and you can stop along the way to take pictures or rest.

• Public Transport

  While there isn’t a direct public transport route to Kummistu kalmistu, you can take a bus from Kärdla to nearby Kerema. Start at the Kärdla bus station and check the bus schedule for departures heading toward Kerema. The journey should take around 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive in Kerema, exit the bus and walk along the main road in the direction of the cemetery, which is approximately 1 kilometer away. Follow signs or ask locals if you need assistance finding the exact path to Kummistu kalmistu.
