If you are starting from the center of Viljandi, head south towards Tallinna street (Tallinna mnt). Keep walking until you reach the intersection with Võru street (Võru mnt). Continue straight on Võru street for about 1 kilometer until you reach the Viljandi Castle ruins. From the castle, you will see the lake in the distance. Follow the path down towards the lake, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the castle.

From Viljandi town center, walk to the Viljandi bus station (Viljandi bussijaam), which is located on the corner of Tartu street. Take a bus heading towards Suure-Jaani or any bus that stops at 'Viljandi järv' (Lake Viljandi). The journey takes around 10-15 minutes. Once you get off, follow the signs leading to the lake, which is just a short walk from the bus stop.
