    Walking

    Start your journey from the center of Mekele, near the main market (Mercato). Head east on Abreha We Atsbeha Street, following the signs toward the university. Continue until you reach the junction with the main road (Aksum Road). Turn right and walk for about 2 kilometers until you reach a bus station. Here, you can ask locals for directions to Abala. Most will direct you to catch a minibus heading towards Abala. The journey to Abala will take about 30 minutes. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to the hiking area for the waterfall. From there, follow the path leading southwest into the hills for approximately 1 kilometer. Keep an eye out for local guides who may offer assistance along the way.

    Public Transport

    From Mekele, make your way to the main bus station located near the center of the city. Look for minibuses that are heading to Abala. Before boarding, confirm with the driver that they will stop at the vicinity of Abala waterfall. The ride takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Abala, disembark and ask locals for the direction to the waterfall trail. The walk from the drop-off point to the waterfall will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Follow the well-trodden paths and enjoy the scenery along the way.
