From the center of Mekele, start at the main square (Mekele Meskel Square). Head north on Haileselassie Avenue towards the intersection with Gheralta Road. Continue straight onto Gheralta Road, which will take you out of the city. After approximately 4 km, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork towards Garamoyti. Continue on this road for another 7 km until you reach the village of Garamoyti. Once in Garamoyti, ask locals for directions to Gemeru Water Fall; they will guide you to the trailhead, which is about a 30-minute walk from the village.

From Mekele, rent a bicycle at one of the local rental shops near the main square. Begin your journey by cycling north on Haileselassie Avenue towards Gheralta Road.
