Start your journey from the center of Mekele, perhaps from the main market area (Merkato). Head southwest on Hiwot Street towards the intersection with Adigrat Street. Turn left onto Adigrat Street and continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer. You will reach a bus station where you can ask locals for directions to the Tigray rock churches. Many locals are familiar with the area and can guide you further.

Once you reach the bus station, take a local minibus (called 'bajaj') towards the Tigray rock churches. They often wait at the bus station. Make sure to tell the driver your destination. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the nearest point to the rock churches, and from there, it's a short walk. Follow the signs or ask locals if you need further directions.
