From the main village of Hestur, start by heading southwest towards the ferry terminal. The ferry to Tórshavn runs regularly, and you will need to take it to reach the main island. The ferry ride typically takes about 20 minutes. Once in Tórshavn, follow signs to the main road (Route 10) heading north. Continue on Route 10 until you reach the intersection leading to Route 11. Take Route 11 towards Vestmanna. After driving for approximately 30 minutes, you will see signs for Svartafoss Waterfall. Park in the designated area and follow the marked hiking trail leading to the waterfall, which is about a 30-minute walk from the parking lot.

If you prefer to use public transportation, start in Hestur and take the ferry to Tórshavn. From Tórshavn, you can catch a bus that travels towards Vestmanna. The bus schedule may vary, so check the local timetable for departure times. Once you arrive in Vestmanna, you will need to either walk or take a taxi to the nearest point from where you can access the hiking trail to Svartafoss Waterfall. The trail is well-marked and will take about 30 minutes to reach the waterfall.
