Getting There

  • Ferry & Driving

    To reach Kallur Lighthouse, first take Route 56 ferry from Klaksvík on Borðoy Island to Syðradalur on Kalsoy Island. The ferry trip is approximately 20 minutes. The cost for a vehicle and driver is 160 DKK, and 40 DKK for each additional adult passenger. Book in advance. From Syðradalur, drive 17km north to Trøllanes through four narrow, unlit tunnels. Parking in Trøllanes is free. From Trøllanes, hike to the lighthouse.

  • Walking

    The hike from Trøllanes to Kallur Lighthouse is about 4.8 km (3 miles) round trip and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. From the parking area in Trøllanes, walk up the road to the red gate. Pass through the gate, keeping it closed behind you. Follow the path to the right of the mountain. The trail can be muddy and steep in sections. There is now a fee to hike to Kallur Lighthouse: Adults: 200 DKK; Children (ages 13-17): 100 DKK; Children (ages 0-12): Free.
