Getting There

Walking
From the center of Strendur, head north on the main road (Ásvegur). Walk for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with the road leading towards the coast. Turn left onto the coastal path that runs parallel to the water. Continue walking for approximately 1 kilometer along this scenic route, enjoying the views of the fjord. Keep an eye out for the signs that indicate the direction to Hoyvík. As you approach Hoyvík, you will see the museum ahead on your right. The building is located at 6 Brekkutún, and it should be easily recognizable. It will take you around 20 to 30 minutes to reach Tjóðsavnið by this route.

From Strendur, you can take the bus to Hoyvík. Check the local bus schedule for the most accurate times, as they may vary. Once you are on the bus, enjoy the ride which will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The bus will drop you off at the closest stop to the museum. After you disembark, walk about 200 meters towards the main road, then turn left and follow Brekkutún for about 300 meters. The museum will be on your left at 6 Brekkutún. Make sure to check the bus return times to ensure you do not miss your ride back.
