Car
To reach Kalsoy from anywhere on Streymoy Island, start by driving to the village of Klaksvik on Borðoy Island. Head towards the northern part of Streymoy, and follow Route 10. This will lead you to the ferry terminal at the village of Syðrugøta. You will need to take the ferry to Kalsoy, which runs several times a day. The ferry ride costs approximately DKK 100 for a car and DKK 30 for passengers. Be sure to check the ferry schedule in advance to plan your trip.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, take a bus from Tórshavn to Klaksvik. Bus services are available and can be checked on the public transport website. Once you arrive in Klaksvik, you can walk to the ferry terminal and take the ferry to Kalsoy. Note that buses may not run frequently, so be sure to confirm the timetable ahead of time.
Ferry
The ferry from Klaksvik to Kalsoy is your primary transport method once you reach Borðoy Island. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Ensure you arrive at the ferry terminal with enough time, as the ferry can be busy, especially during peak tourist seasons. After arriving on Kalsoy, you can explore the island on foot or by bicycle, as public transportation on the island is limited.
