Getting There

  • Ferry and Walking

    To reach Hvannhagi, begin by taking the Smyril ferry from Tórshavn to Tvøroyri on Suðuroy. The ferry trip takes approximately 2 hours. Check the ferry schedule for current departure times and book in advance. Once in Tvøroyri, the trailhead is located above the hospital. From the hospital, walk up to Ovari Vegur road and continue left towards Trongisvágur. After about 1.5km, you'll see a gate marking the start of the Hvannhagi hiking path. Follow the orange-marked posts. The hike to Hvannhagi takes about 1-2 hours. Ferry cost: approximately 160 DKK for a car and driver, plus 40 DKK per additional passenger, each way. Bus from Torshavn to Gamlarætt ferry terminal: approximately 60 DKK.
