Moon Reef: A Fijian Marine Sanctuary

Moon Reef, or Makalati as it's known locally, is a captivating marine conservation area off the northeastern coast of Viti Levu, Fiji. Its name comes from its distinctive crescent shape, visible from above. The reef is home to a large pod of spinner dolphins, making it a prime location for dolphin watching year-round. These playful dolphins often spend their mornings in the sheltered lagoon, offering visitors a chance to witness their acrobatic displays. Swimming with or feeding the dolphins is prohibited to preserve their natural behavior.
