The reef gets its name from its distinctive crescent moon shape when viewed from above. This natural formation creates a shallow, sheltered lagoon, making it an ideal resting and calving spot for a large population of spinner dolphins.Moon Reef is renowned as one of the most reliable places in Fiji to observe spinner dolphins in their natural habitat. These playful dolphins spend their days in the lagoon, resting and socializing before heading out to hunt at night. While swimming with or feeding the dolphins is prohibited to protect their natural behavior, visitors can observe their acrobatic displays and bow-riding antics from a respectful distance on boat tours.Beyond the dolphin encounters, Moon Reef boasts a vibrant underwater ecosystem.
