Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Driving
The most common way to reach the Nausori Highlands is by driving from Nadi or Suva. From Nadi, head east along the Queens Road. The journey to the highlands takes approximately 1-2 hours depending on the specific village you are visiting. Car rentals are available at Nadi International Airport. Be aware that roads in the highlands can be unpaved and rugged, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Expect to pay around $50-$100 FJD per day for a rental car. Parking is generally available near the villages, often free of charge.
Taxi
Taxis are available from Nadi International Airport or major hotels in Nadi and Suva. A taxi to the Nausori Highlands from Nadi will cost approximately $100 - $150 FJD and take around 1.5 - 2 hours. Agree on a fare with the driver before you begin your journey. Taxis can drop you off at the entrance to the highlands or at specific villages. Keep in mind that finding a taxi for your return journey from within the highlands may be difficult to arrange on the spot, so pre-booking a return trip or arranging for the driver to wait for you is advisable.
Organized Tour
Many tour operators offer day trips to the Nausori Highlands from Nadi and Suva. These tours typically include transportation, a guide, a visit to a traditional village, a kava ceremony, and lunch. Prices range from $100 - $200 FJD per person. Organized tours are a convenient way to experience the Highlands without having to worry about transportation or logistics.
