Public Transport

From central Espoo, take bus number 147 from Espoo City Center (Espoon keskus) bus station. Check the bus schedule for accurate timings. After approximately 25 minutes, get off at the 'Matalajärvi' bus stop. From the bus stop, walk straight for about 500 meters until you reach the Matalajärvi Birdwatching Tower; the path is marked. A single ticket for zones B and C, covering the journey from Espoo City Center to Matalajärvi, costs approximately €3.20.

Walking

If you are near the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA), you can walk to Matalajärvi Birdwatching Tower. Head east on Ahvenistenkuja towards Läkkikatu, then turn left onto Läkkikatu. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Siltakatu. Turn right on Siltakatu and follow it until you see signs pointing towards Matalajärvi. The tower is about a 30-minute walk from EMMA, and the path is well-marked. There are no costs associated with walking.

Bicycle

Rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing services available in Espoo. Starting from the Espoo City Center, take the bike path towards Mäkkylä and follow the signs for Matalajärvi. The entire ride should take around 15-20 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Once you arrive at Matalajärvi, there are designated bike racks where you can securely park your bike.
