Driving
From Rovaniemi, drive southeast on Route 81 (Kuusamontie) for approximately 100 km. Follow signs for Korouoma. Turn onto a smaller road (Koppelojärventie or Kurtankaltiontie depending on the trailhead) and continue for about 3 km to reach the Saukkovaara parking area. Parking is free. From the parking area, it's a 1-1.5 hour hike to the canyon.

From Rovaniemi, take a bus towards Posio. Get off at the village of Pernu. From Pernu, take a taxi or walk approximately 5 km to the Saukkovaara parking area. Contact a local taxi service in Posio for rates (+358 16 3721555). Bus tickets from Rovaniemi to Posio cost approximately €23-€25.
