Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving to Koivuköngäs Waterfall, start from the Pyhä-Luosto Visitor Centre. Head southeast on Luostontie (Road 962) for about 11 km until you reach the intersection with Kurtankaltiontie. Turn right onto Kurtankaltiontie and continue for approximately 3 km. Look for a small parking area on your right, which is the starting point for the walking trail to the waterfall. Please note that parking may be limited, and ensure you park in designated areas.

  • Public Transportation + Walking

    To reach Koivuköngäs Waterfall via public transportation, take a local bus from Rovaniemi to Posio. Once in Posio, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a rideshare service to Kurtankaltiontie, as public transport does not go directly to the waterfall. The taxi ride should take about 20 minutes. After reaching the parking area on Kurtankaltiontie, follow the marked trail to the waterfall, which is about a 1 km walk. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they can vary.

  • Hiking

    For those already in Pyhä-Luosto National Park and looking for an adventurous option, you can hike from the Visitor Centre to Koivuköngäs Waterfall.
