    The primary access point to Riisitunturi National Park is via the parking area located at Riisitunturintie, 97925 Tolva. From Posio, drive 15 km towards Kuusamo, then turn left onto Patoniementie. After 16 km, a signpost will direct you left towards Riisitunturi National Park. Continue for 3 km on a gravel road to reach the parking area. Note that Google Maps may provide incorrect directions. Parking is free. Be aware that the road may be subject to spring thaw, typically from late April to mid-May, which can restrict access. During winter, the road is plowed. The drive from Rovaniemi takes approximately 2.5 hours. A taxi service is available in the village of Tolva. There are no public transportation connections directly to Riisitunturi.

Riisitunturi National Park, situated in the southern part of Finnish Lapland near Posio, encompasses 77 square kilometers of fell and hill landscapes. The Riisin Rietas Trail is a longer option, approximately 11 kilometers, offering varied landscapes of fells and forests. The 26-kilometer Riisitunturi hiking trail extends through the National Park and the Karitunturi mire reserve. Riisitunturi's highest point is 465 meters. From the higher elevations, hikers can enjoy views over Lake Kitkajärvi and the surrounding forests. The park also includes open wilderness huts and lean-to shelters, providing resting spots for hikers. Camping is permitted in designated areas. The best time to visit Riisitunturi National Park is from December to March to witness the snow-covered trees. January and February typically offer the most snow. Visitors should be prepared for cold temperatures and pack appropriate winter clothing.
