From Ruka, drive east on Route 5 (E63) towards Kuusamo. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit toward Route 871. Continue on Route 871 for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Sukerijärvi Strict Nature Reserve entrance. Look for the signs indicating the nature reserve. The total driving time is approximately 45 minutes.

From Ruka, take a bus operated by Kutsuplus or another local service towards Kuusamo. The bus stop is located at Ruka Center.
