Seestan Lintusaari Nature Preserve

Seestan Lintusaari, or Seesta Bird Island, is a hidden gem nestled within the lush landscapes of Lahti, Finland. A path runs through the area, partly overgrown but easily walkable. The southern end of Lintusaari features black alder, old birch, some pine trees, aspen, bird cherry, rowan, grey alder and willow. The field layer is home to meadowsweet and abundant buckler-fern. Towards the northern tip, large alders become more abundant among the spruces, with bird cherry and tall pines thriving near the shore. The younger tree layer is dominated by grey alder and rowan, with some young spruces, buckthorns, aspens and rowans among the shrubs. The field layer includes dog's mercury, ground elder, wild strawberry, broad buckler-fern, wood cranesbill, redcurrant, mouse-ear chickweed, lily of the valley and various grasses. The sunny rock and its surroundings are also home to raspberry, juniper, elderberry, sorrel, rock lily, alpine catchfly, heath starwort, wall hawkweed, herb-Robert, fern, wood horsetail and marsh marigold. Informational signs along the trails provide valuable insights into the importance of preserving natural spaces and encourage visitors to appreciate the delicate balance of nature.
