Car
If driving from Joensuu, head northeast on Route 6 towards Nurmes for approximately 45 km. Upon reaching Kitee, continue on Route 6 until the junction for Route 73. Turn right onto Route 73 and follow it for about 30 km. Look for signs directing you to Naarva. Once in Naarva, turn onto Hatuntie; Katajapuro Waterfall is located at Hatuntie 638. Free parking is available near the waterfall.
Public Transport
To reach Katajapuro Waterfall via public transport, take a bus from Joensuu to Kitee from the Joensuu bus station (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes). In Kitee, transfer to a local bus heading to Naarva, checking the schedule for frequency. From Naarva, walk about 1.5 km along Hatuntie to reach the waterfall. Note that arranging transport for the Kitee to Naarva leg may be necessary due to limited local services. A single bus fare from Joensuu to Kitee typically costs around €10-€15.
