If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Joensuu, North Karelia. Head southwest on route 6 (E63) towards Kitee. Continue on this road for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the town of Kitee. From Kitee, take road 77 towards the north and follow it for about 30 kilometers. You will see signs for Mount Sampo as you get closer. Turn onto the local road leading to the mountain. There is parking available at the base of Mount Sampo, though parking fees may apply, typically around €5 for the day.
