Car
The most common way to reach Hepoköngäs is by car. From Puolanka, drive 5 km southeast on road 78 (Paltamontie), then turn left onto road 891 (Hyrynsalmentie) and drive 7 km. Turn right onto road 8912 (Hepokönkääntie) and follow the signs for 2 km to the parking area. From the parking area, it's a short, accessible walk to the waterfall. Parking is free. During winter, the road to Hepoköngäs is kept clear of snow.

While reaching Hepoköngäs by public transport is possible, it requires some planning. Take a bus from Kajaani or Oulu to Puolanka. From Puolanka, it is 16 km to Hepoköngäs, and there are no direct buses to the waterfall. Consider a taxi from Puolanka, which would cost approximately €30-€40. Check local bus schedules for connections to Puolanka.
