    From the Oulu railway station, Tietomaa is approximately a 10-minute walk. Head northwest on Rautatienkatu, then turn left onto Torikatu. Continue onto Nahkatehtaankatu, where you'll find Tietomaa on your right. There are no tolls or specific access fees for walking.

Located in Oulu, Finland, Tietomaa Science Centre has been a prominent attraction since its opening in 1988. As the first science center in Finland, it has provided unforgettable experiences to visitors interested in learning about science and technology. The center is located in the Myllytulli district, occupying the repurposed buildings of the former Veljekset Åström Oy leather factory. Tietomaa offers a variety of interactive exhibits designed to engage visitors of all ages. These exhibits cover various fields of science and technology, providing hands-on learning experiences. The center also features a 45-meter observation tower with a glass elevator, offering panoramic views of Oulu. In addition to its exhibits, Tietomaa boasts a giant movie theatre. Originally an IMAX theatre, it was the first purpose-built IMAX theatre in the Nordic countries. The IMAX system was replaced with a Barco 4K system in 2013. Note that as of July 2025, Tietomaa Science Centre is closed for renovation and new construction. The center is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2026 with a new concept that combines a museum and a science center.
