The Radio and TV Museum Mastola, also known as Mastola, invites you to delve into the captivating world of Finnish radio and television history. Situated on Radiomäki (Radio Hill) in Lahti, the museum is housed in the former AM station building, right at the base of the towering 150-meter radio towers that have become a landmark of the city. Established in 1998 and renovated in 2014–2017, Mastola showcases the development of broadcasting technology and its impact on Finnish society. Lahti played a pivotal role in Finnish broadcasting history. In 1927, the first long-wave station in Finland was built in Lahti due to its central location, with the iconic radio towers erected shortly after. The station was inaugurated in 1928, and in 1935, a new long-wave station was completed, equipped with a powerful 150 kW Marconi transmitter. Although the AM station ceased broadcasting in 1993, the legacy lives on through the Radio and TV Museum Mastola. Today, the museum collaborates with many operators to preserve the history of radio and television. With interactive exhibits and a wide range of activities, the Radio and TV Museum Mastola offers a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
