Discover more about Ossi Somma’s Sculpture Park

Ossi Somma’s Sculpture Park, located in the picturesque town of Nokia, Finland, offers a captivating blend of art and nature. This open-air park showcases dozens of sculptures created by the late Finnish artist Ossi Somma. The park evolved organically as Somma, who lived and worked on the property with his wife Sinikka, began placing his increasing number of artworks in the former schoolyard next to his studio. Over the years, the yard transformed into a sculpture park featuring dozens of sculptures. Visitors can wander through the park and encounter a diverse collection of sculptures that reflect Somma's creativity and vision. The sculptures, often described as both whimsical and thought-provoking, engage with themes of society and humanity. Somma's works often incorporate chairs, symbolizing power, greed, and materialism. The park provides a tranquil environment for contemplation and inspiration, inviting visitors to connect with art in a unique outdoor setting. Ossi Somma began working on sculptures in 1967 and in 1975, he and his wife renovated the surviving school building into a home and studio. The studio building and Mini Gallery are open by appointment.
