Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the main entrance of Repovesi National Park, located at the Repovesi Visitor Center. From there, head south on the road (Repovedentie) for about 7 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 6 (Kouvolantie). Turn right onto Route 6 and follow it for approximately 12 kilometers. Take the exit toward Kouvola and merge onto the local roads. Follow the signs to Määkijä Campground, which is located in Kouvola (47900). The exact coordinates are 61.1571° N, 26.8581° E. There is no parking fee at Määkijä.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from the Kouvola city center to Repovesi National Park. Buses leave from the Kouvola Bus Station and typically run several times a day. Once you arrive at the Repovesi Visitor Center, you can either hike or take a taxi to Määkijä, which is around 7 kilometers away. Make sure to check the local bus schedule for the latest timings and any potential changes. Taxis can be ordered through local companies and may have varying costs, so it's advisable to confirm the fare in advance.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you are already within Repovesi National Park and prefer to hike to Määkijä, you can start from the visitor center and take the marked trails heading south. Follow the path for about 7 kilometers, which will lead you through beautiful forested areas and alongside lakes. This is a scenic route, but ensure you have good hiking shoes and sufficient water. The trail takes approximately 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
