    The most common way to reach Archipelago Museum Pentala is by taking a scheduled archipelago boat. These boats operate from late May/early June to mid-September, running between Tuesdays and Sundays. Several routes are available, departing from different locations in Espoo : * **The Museum Route:** Operates from Soukka, Suinonsalmi, and Suomenoja. * **Kivenlahti Archipelago Route:** Operates from Kivenlahti, Laurinlahti, and Soukka. A round-trip ticket costs approximately €7 for adults and €3.50 for children. Check the Aava Lines Oy website for the most up-to-date schedules and route information. The boat will dock at the Archipelago Museum's jetty, which is about 100 meters from the museum's information building. The path from the pier to the museum is a gentle uphill sand path.

  • Private Boat

    Visitors can also arrive by private boat. The Archipelago Museum's jetty has 10 berths for private boats, but mooring is allowed for a maximum of 4 hours. Overnight stays are not permitted. The jetty is best suited for boats up to 7 meters in length. The coordinates for the jetty are N=6665617.728, E=370727.893. Please note that the Esbo Segelförening club's jetty is reserved for restaurant Paven's customers and sailing club members only.

Located on the island of Pentala, the Archipelago Museum Pentala provides an immersive experience into the life and history of the Espoo archipelago. The museum resides on a former fisherman's estate, showcasing the everyday lives, work, and leisure of the islanders throughout the years.The museum complex consists of fifteen buildings, the oldest being a fisherman's cottage dating back to the early 1790s. The estate was inhabited until 1986, offering a unique perspective on maritime life. Visitors can explore Gurli's house, restored to its appearance during her final years, offering a personal glimpse into the life of the last year-round resident. The museum also features a fishing-themed exhibition.Beyond the buildings, Pentala Island itself is a natural attraction. The island is the highest in southern Finland, with diverse nature and a large conservation area. A 2.3-kilometer nature trail leads visitors to Lake Pentalanjärvi and Diksand beach, showcasing the island's flora and fauna. Note that the trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams. Visitors can also enjoy swimming at Diksand beach and the northeastern part of Lake Pentalanjärvi.In the summer, sheep graze on the museum grounds, adding to the idyllic atmosphere. While visiting, be mindful of the island's conservation area guidelines: campfires and overnight stays are prohibited.
