Car
If you are driving, start by heading east on the main road. Use U.S. Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail). Turn onto Fruitville Road heading east. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with North Beneva Road. Turn left onto North Beneva Road, and follow it until you reach the intersection with Ken Thompson Parkway. Turn right onto Ken Thompson Parkway. Continue on Ken Thompson Parkway, and you’ll find City Island on your left at the address 1799 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34236. Parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take the Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus route that services the area. Look for Route 4, which runs from downtown Sarasota to the beaches. You’ll need to transfer at the Ringling Bridge stop. From there, catch Route 12 towards Siesta Key. Get off at the stop on Ken Thompson Parkway. City Island is a short walk from the bus stop. Check the SCAT website for the latest schedule and fare information, as there may be a small fee for the bus ride.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can bike to City Island. There are bike paths along the main roads. Start from wherever you are in Sarasota Beach, head towards the Ringling Bridge, and cross over to St. Armands Circle. From there, head back towards Ken Thompson Parkway, following the bike lanes. City Island will be on your left. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local cycling laws.
Walking
If you are staying nearby, walking to City Island is a pleasant option. From the nearest beach area, head towards Ken Thompson Parkway. Follow the path along the water, enjoying the views as you walk. It's about a 20-30 minute walk depending on your starting point. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on hot days.
