Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to the nearest major highway, either I-75 or US-41, depending on your starting point in Southwest Florida. From I-75, take exit 131 for FL-865 W toward Fort Myers Beach. Follow FL-865 W to San Carlos Blvd, and then take a left onto San Carlos Blvd. Continue until you reach the bridge to Estero Island. After crossing the bridge, continue on Estero Blvd, which will eventually lead you to Captiva Island. Once you reach Captiva Drive, turn left, and follow it until you arrive at Turner Beach located at 17200 Captiva Dr, Captiva, FL 33924. Parking is available, but note that there may be a fee (approximately $5-$10) depending on the time of year and duration of your stay.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, consult the LeeTran bus service. Take the bus route that goes to Fort Myers Beach. From Fort Myers Beach, you can transfer to a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Captiva Island. Keep in mind that public transport may not always run frequently, so plan accordingly. The cost for the bus is typically around $1.50, and a taxi or rideshare from Fort Myers Beach to Turner Beach may range from $20 to $40 depending on traffic and time of day.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and prefer to bike, there are bike paths along the beaches. From Fort Myers Beach, you can ride along Estero Blvd to Captiva Drive. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations. The ride can be about 10 miles and offers beautiful views along the way. Ensure to have a bike lock to secure your bike once you reach Turner Beach.
Walking
If you're staying nearby on Captiva Island, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Turner Beach. Follow Captiva Drive directly to the beach. It's a charming way to experience the local environment, but be mindful of the heat and bring plenty of water, especially during the warmer months.
Use Tower Bridge as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
