City Island: A Hidden Gem in Sarasota

Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown St. Petersburg, walk to the nearest Jolly Trolley or Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus stop. Take the PSTA Route 100X towards Sarasota. When you arrive at the Sarasota bus terminal, transfer to the Route 15 bus towards Siesta Key. Get off at the stop for Ken Thompson Parkway. From there, it's a short walk to City Island at 1799 Ken Thompson Pkwy.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start from downtown St. Petersburg and head towards the Pinellas Trail. Follow the trail towards the southwest until you reach the intersection of 4th Street South and 22nd Avenue South. Turn right onto 22nd Avenue, continue until you reach US-41. Follow US-41 south towards Sarasota, then take a left onto Ken Thompson Parkway. City Island will be on your left.

• Walking

  If you're near the waterfront in downtown St. Petersburg, walk south along the waterfront towards the Pier. Continue south past the Pier and follow the walking path that leads to the South Pasadena area. Once you reach the intersection with US-19, you can either continue walking south towards the bus terminal and catch a bus to Sarasota or take a rideshare service directly to City Island.

  Use a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft. Enter 'City Island, 1799 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34236' as your destination. The driver will pick you up from your current location in St. Petersburg and take you directly to City Island. Make sure to check the estimated travel time and fare before confirming your ride.
